CMS issued a memo in April 2008 that is taking aim at the continued use of Pooled Trusts for people over the age of 65 as a tool to shelter assets in the eligibility process for Medicaid.

Following the passage of DEFRA in February 2006, Medical Assistance planning, aka Medicaid planning, is in a state of flux. The Federal law has been passed but States need to follow suit to establish the framework to administer the new law at the State level.

The Medical Assistance rules are changing in Minnesota as a result of the Budget reduction legislation that President Bush signed in February of 2006. There are lots of changes that will affect the way that people plan for and apply for MA in Minnesota.
